Lots to be happy about, lots to be scared about.
Great sessions with Lizzy McBain. So much time is needed to knock this thing into shape and shape is the operative word. I have to map my way through the plot and round the stage and some of that is coming together.
It is really strange how an area of floor can become a lift (elevator), or a living room in your mind, how you can take yourself with your mind’s eye with an immense amount of detail past particular buildings that now exist either side of a length of stage.
The characters are becoming less dependent on me being consciously competent in holding them together. They are becoming independent like like teenagers fleeing the nest. I am less concerned with their development and now turn my attention to their survival in an exterior environment. Lots of work needs to be done to create the aural and visual environment in which they will hopefully not just survive but thrive.
The plan is to focus mainly on the creation of a fully immersive aural theatrical experience. Loads of decisions need to be made, like how much detail needs to be added? Do I need the sound of a door closing when a character enters? Do I need the sound of typing when a character types? Will dramatic music mean we burst out of the reality bubble that’s been created or will it serve to enhance it? Will I be able to create the illusion of time passing? Can I create time with sound. Thankfully I have time to create sound.
Only a week though! Argh!
